    So my picture may mean

    a picture that I own
    a picture that I made
    a picture that shows me
as well as many other things, not restricted to picture nouns, like

    a picture that I sold/bought/signed/
a picture that I am particularly fond of
a picture that I mentioned in a previous utterance

Whereas a picture of Bill may mean only

    a picture that shows Bill
while a picture of Bill’s may mean the same thing, but may also mean

    a picture that Bill owns
    a picture that Bill made

    Summary: Possessives do not always refer to ownership;
or, perhaps, ownership has more dimensions than one might expect.

It depends on your definition of dying. If dying means not having 24/7 traffic jams, a massive urban slum area, a congested, high rise infested central city, a miserable excuse for a waterfront, a crime rate that seems to worry many commentators, a central city that overflows with drunk, abusive, vomiting youth on the weekends, huge travel distances to get to work, a dysfunctional transport system, ridiculously high housing costs then yes, Wellington is dying.

Wellington is awful. Small and outdated, with horrible weather, crappy beaches and even worse, an over-inflated ego. For once, I agree with John Key. Something needs to be done to the place so it is worthy of the ludicrous hype the tourism sector keeps lavishing on it.

    ludicrous adj.

Auckland is a mess, not a city at all, but a shambolic mish-mash of urban blight and suburban soullessness.Hamilton and Pm Nth are just bloated, overgrown provincial towns, as was Christchurch before the earthquakes.

    shambolic adj.
    mish-mash n.
    bloated adj.
    snobbery n.
